What's new in 0.1.0

First public release of FilmTracker Desktop.

  • Guided workflow: pick photos, choose camera, film, lens and frame details, review and write metadata
  • Fast previews for TIFF, JPEG and RAW files with a live loading count
  • Frequently used and pinned presets, plus lenses grouped by the camera you last used them with
  • Sign in with your FilmTracker account: your licence follows you and presets sync between the Desktop app and the Lightroom plugin
  • Update checks at launch with download-when-ready installs, never mid-workflow
  • Autocorrect and text substitution turned off in every field
  • Trials: admin-awarded access with beta channel support; beta trials follow the newest build and show an "Update required" screen when a newer build is published
  • Preset fixes: stable icons, correct created/modified dates, safe renames with no silent overwrites, zoom edits keep their range, frame sizes and icons survive wizard updates, custom film formats pass through, and the preset folder is tidied at start-up
  • Per-frame capture dates: a "Per Frame" date option opens a frame grid (click, shift-click for a range) to date frames individually; undated frames follow the previous dated frame
  • Date options renamed to Today, Date of Scan and Custom Date; interchangeable backs on camera presets

Install both apps and sign in with the same account. Cameras, films, lenses and usage history sync between them, and each device you sign in on counts once towards your licence.

Manage devices

Installing the Desktop app on macOS

  1. Open the downloaded .dmg and drag FilmTracker into your Applications folder.
  2. The first time you open it, macOS may say the app "cannot be opened" because it is not yet notarised. Right-click (or Control-click) the app, choose Open, then confirm. You only need to do this once per version.
  3. Sign in with your FilmTracker account. Your licence and presets follow your account, so there is no key to type.

Installing the Lightroom Classic plugin

  1. Quit Lightroom Classic, then run the downloaded .pkg. It places the plugin in your Lightroom Modules folder, so Lightroom picks it up automatically.
  2. If macOS refuses to open the installer, right-click it and choose Open, then confirm.
  3. Start Lightroom Classic. FilmTracker appears under Library › Plug-in Extras. The first launch asks you to sign in with your FilmTracker account.

Updates come to you

Both apps check this page's release feed when they start. When a newer version exists, a small banner offers What's new and Download. Nothing installs on its own, and the Lightroom plugin never interrupts a batch that is running. You choose when to open the installer.
